Spotting creative talent isn't just for the interview room. Our CMO Chaucer Barnes shared some wisdom on ambition, rejection, and the creative journey. His insights are a reminder that the path of a creative is often paved with conviction and resilience. #pushingcultureforward
Think you know how to spot talent? My friend Chaucer Barnes wowed me as he rightly identified an aspiring creative in our midst over lunch. I asked if he would do a 'walk and talk' with me after to describe how he did it. Yesterday, the charming and brilliant Chaucer Barnes (CMO from Translation & UnitedMasters) and I shared a delightful bite at Union Square Cafe which turned into a masterclass on spotting creativity and ambition. During lunch, Chaucer spotted that special spark in our amazing and professional waitress' eyes as she strongly suggested the tiramisu for dessert as it "was the best in NYC." He said the strength of her convictions "can only come because somebody is practiced at being rejected. You're not going to be practiced at being rejected unless you're trying to do things that are breaking conventional wisdom." And low and behold... he was right on the money our waitress is an aspiring author. Special shoutout to our waitress, Shealyn Gyger, who clearly exemplified these critical traits. Here’s to more insightful conversations and delicious tiramisu! 🎤✨ #TalentSpotting #GrowthMindset #ProfessionalDevelopment
