This week's Summit Spotlight is Aubree, an Occupational Therapist at TriStar Summit's Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit. Aubree has worked at TriStar Summit Medical Center for nine months and says her connect to purpose resonates when patients improve. "Seeing the joy on someone's face when they learn a new skill to help them regain function and increase their independence!" When she's not working, she loves vacationing in Iceland, her favorite food is sushi or Mexican, and she loves indie rock music. If she could have lunch with anyone, she says, her great grandmother. Samantha has worked at TriStar Summit Medical Center for four years and says her connect to purpose is patient-driven. "Knowing that no matter what I do (little/big) that it improves the patient's overall stay." When she's not working, she loves vacationing anywhere, her favorite food is Mexican, and she folk and 90's music. If she could have lunch with anyone, she says, her nana. TriStar Summit Medical Center is pleased to introduce its new pharmacy residents! Jared Slaughter is from Newnan, Georgia, and recently graduated from Lipscomb University College of Pharmacy. "I wanted to complete my residency at TriStar Summit Medical Center after I attended a residency showcase where I met Dr. Paul Moore. With all of the hospital's growth and expansion, I saw an opportunity where I could help make an impact and grow as a pharmacist," said Jared. Maria Dauerer is from Smyrna, Tennessee, and recently graduated from Belmont University of College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. "Everyone at Summit has been very welcoming. There is also a great teaching certificate program, and I will have the option to work with lots of pharmacy students throughout my time here," said Maria. Welcome Jared and Maria to our family. We hosted a 'Walking Taco' fundraising event for our American Heart Association Heart Walk Team this week. Nashville's Heart Walk is on September 21 at GEODIS Park. Kim has worked at TriStar Summit Medical Center for six years and says her connect to purpose starts with being present. "To show up, advocate for my patients and help educate them so they can return to a good quality of life." When she's not working, Kim loves vacationing any place warm, sunny, with clear water. Her favorite food is vegetables, and she loves R&B, contemporary gospel, classical and jazz. If she could have lunch with anyone, she says, her father. What does Kim love about Summit? We celebrate one of our own today! The Daisy Award is given to nurses who have gone above and beyond with patients and their families. RN Kylie Smith from our Emergency Department received the award this week - and shared the celebration with the leadership team and her ER colleagues. A recent patent's family member nominated Kylie for her kindness and care during a difficult time. "Kylie treated me more as a friend, someone who made sure I was going to be ok. I really appreciate that so much."
