Funding available! We're offering $45M to support programs to provide skills training through work-based learning, employment services, educational support and mentorship to young adults (15-24) in communities affected by violence, crime and poverty. Violence and poverty can prevent individuals from realizing their potential and prevent access to equitable educational and employment opportunities. The Reentry Employment Opportunities program funding availability announced today aligns with the Biden-Harris administration’s commitment to equity in the labor force and addresses structural barriers these young people encounter. Funds will support local organizations and community violence intervention partners that provide jobs, training and supportive services to prepare and equip young people to succeed. https://lnkd.in/etBPt-Pz

While reported mental illness is lower among Latino, Black and Asian adults compared to white adults, research suggests mental illness may be underdiagnosed and underreported among people of color. Studies have found that racial disparities in access to health care and the absence of culturally-informed survey and screening tools may contribute to these lower rates. In some communities, mental health can be considered a taboo topic or a sign of weakness, which can be a barrier to seeking mental health care. But acknowledging what you are experiencing and asking for help is a sign of strength. Your feelings are valid and do not need to be kept secret. If you or someone you know needs treatment for mental health or a substance use disorder, we've got resources on job-based benefits that can help. https://lnkd.in/efD5_2CE
