This past Sunday, ARV hosted Pradyumna Vasudevan from Aptiv for a tech talk! Pradyumna talked about his work with Aptiv and the cutting-edge technology they are developing. We are extremely grateful for this opportunity. ARV also wants to give a special thank you to Jessica DeJong from Aptiv for making all of this possible. Aptiv's support has been instrumental in our mission to foster robotics education and equip students with both interpersonal and technical skills that will make them ready for the industry. ARV looks forward to our continued partnership!

Über uns
We are a group of individuals who see autonomous robotics as an exciting new field with endless opportunity to solve many problems we face as a civilization. As Michigan Engineers, we have the determination, skills, tools, and the calling to innovate robotic systems and impact the world around us. From self-driving cars to autonomous drones and beyond, we want to help shape this field as it will no doubt shape the world around us. Our goal is to produce a competition ready robot for the Intelligent Ground Vehicle Competition at Oakland University. At IGVC, autonomous rovers from schools around the world navigate an obstacle course using onboard sensors and computers without human input in an attempt to inspire the next era of transportation. In addition to the competition, we want to engage and educate our community about intelligent and autonomous systems. Our outreach efforts will include demo days and hands-on sessions where young students can learn and interact with our vehicle. Our vision is a unified, comprehensive robotics team at the University of Michigan which fields teams in various competitions but also acts as a catalyst and hub, by spinning out entrepreneurial and social ventures.

Check out what our computer vision team has been up to! We are excited to share some of the amazing work that our computer vision team has been doing lately. This week, Arnav Shah from our computer vision team showed us their progress on mapping out and identifying drivable areas. This will be essential to navigate the course at the Intelligent Ground Vehicle Competition. If you are interested in joining our computer vision team or learning more about our work, please visit our website at www.umarv.com. #umarv #computervision #cv #machinelearning #ml #autonomousvehicles #robotics #lanedetection #selfdriving

Check out what our embedded systems team has been working on! We are excited to share some of the work that our embedded subteam has been doing this semester. This week, our embedded team got teleoperation working on our robot. This will not only help with testing our robot’s platform, but soon, will also allow other subteams to test their autonomous driving algorithms. We can’t wait to see what the embedded team comes up with next! If you are interested in joining our embedded systems team or learning more about our work, please visit our website at www.umarv.com.

Yesterday, a few members from UMARV toured Mcity's testing facility. We were amazed by the state-of-the-art infrastructure and technology that pushes us closer to a future of autonomous vehicles. Mcity's resources and support will be invaluable in the development of our robot. We wanted to take a moment to thank Jim Lollar of Mcity for giving us the tour and Sarah Cicotte of Ann Arbor SPARK for making this possible. UMARV is excited about our future partnership! #umarv #umich #mcity #av #autonomousvehicles

Check out what our computer vision team has been up to! We are excited to share some of the amazing work that our computer vision team has been doing lately. They have made a lot of progress in mapping out drivable areas and real-time object detection using machine learning as well as traditional algorithms. This will help us improve our object-avoidance, navigation, and routing algorithms for our robot. We are proud of our computer vision team and their achievements; we can’t wait to see what they will come up with next!
