Robert Lee and his wife Carolyn have been married for 53 years. Even though Robert had no symptoms, Carolyn signed them up for a heart and lung scan, which led to a life-changing discovery—a tumor that would have otherwise gone unnoticed. Through surgery and radiation, Robert faced a difficult diagnosis of adrenal cortical carcinoma, a rare and aggressive cancer. Against the odds, he chose quality of life over chemotherapy and has enjoyed three years since his surgery—flying planes, fishing and cherishing time with family. Thanks to the care and support at UNC Health Rex, Robert’s journey has been more than just a medical fight—it’s been about living fully, one day at a time. Stacy Campbell-Bright, PharmD, BCCCP is a Clinical Specialist in the Medical ICU and Professor of Clinical Education at the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy. She started at UNC in 1989 and her last day at UNC will be tomorrow, August 28th. Stacy has had an immeasurable impact on clinical pharmacy at UNC and on the MICU. She has taught and mentored thousands of students, residents and practitioners over her 35 years of service. She will be greatly missed!
