Union Pacific is strengthening our aerial operations to safely use saws suspended from helicopters to trim hard-to-reach tree limbs in dense or rugged terrain outside of city limits across our 32,000-mile network.

On August 25, 1916, President Woodrow Wilson signed the "Organic Act," creating the National Park Service who was responsible for maintaining national parks and monuments. In efforts to conserve the natural and historic objects, scenery, and wildlife, the National Park Service have worked to keep the parks unimpaired for the enjoyment of future generations. Those who worked to create the National Park Service found willing partners in the nation's railroads. In the golden age of rail travel, when people rushed to see what they considered to be a vanishing frontier, Union Pacific and other railroads helped to preserve that landscape for their passengers. Throughout the process, a mutually beneficial relationship began that persevered from 1916 through most of the twentieth century. Happy birthday, NPS! Utah's Hogle Zoo collaborated with Union Pacific's Community Ties Giving Program to create signs that share rail safety reminders with animal puns to engage visitors of all ages while at the zoo and whenever they see tracks.

School is soon to be back in session, meaning long lists of school supplies for students, teachers and parents. Fortunately, Union Pacific is fully prepared to safely deliver much of the supplies needed to start the school year on the right foot. Pencils, pens, crayons and markers shipped by Union Pacific help unlock students’ creativity, with supplies like paper, books and notebooks furthering their potential in the classroom. Union Pacific also helps ship education-centered technology, including computers and calculators, as well as whiteboards and backpacks.
