During National Health Center Week, Unity Health Care is celebrating our invaluable stakeholders—the partners, supporters, and advocates who help us fulfill our mission. Federally Qualified Health Centers like Unity provide care to over 31.5 million patients nationwide, bridging critical gaps for the 100 million Americans facing barriers to primary care. In a recent collaboration, Unity's Community Advisory Board and the DC Voter Registration Team empowered our patients by hosting a voter registration event at Anacostia Health Center. Additionally, Unity’s Brentwood Health Center, in partnership with NOAA: National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention , launched a groundbreaking heat forecast tool, featuring national leaders and community stakeholders. We also honored DC Mayor Muriel Bowser and The J. Willard and Alice S. Marriott Foundation at our Night of Unity Gala for their exceptional contributions to healthcare access and community resilience.  Unity Health Care is also proud to advocate for crucial funding and programs that support our community's diverse health care needs. Special thanks to the Council of the District of Columbia members for their commitment to advancing health equity. Meeting the Needs of our Immigrant Patients: Since 2022, Unity has partnered with the DC Department of Human Services and the Office of Migrant Services to provide primary care, specialty care, and social services to asylum seekers from Central and South America arriving in the District. It is an honor and privilege to create a space of healing for migrant patients facing extraordinary obstacles. Join us as we celebrate the deep commitment of our staff, the patients who depend on us for care, and recognize the significant role that Unity and our FQHC peers play in creating a healthier, more equitable country.  Nearly 40 years ago, Unity Health Care – then Health Care for the Homeless Project – opened its first clinic in a converted school cloakroom in the District’s Pierce Street Shelter. Today, we see nearly 84,000 patients annually through 300,000+ visits in more than 25 locations. Our scope of work has evolved as the years have gone by, but the motivation to meet those who need our care where they are, with empathy, dignity, and compassion is unwavering. #NHCW24 #VAlueCHCs #FQHCs
