Yesterday, we kicked off the new school year with our annual Convocation, centered around the theme "Elevating Expectations," one of Uplift’s core values. The event brought together our entire Uplift Education Network, aligning us with the same goals and mission as we embark on the new school year. We proudly recognized our first-year directors, employees with 15+ years of service, and Top Hat winners who demonstrate the dedication and excellence that define our network. The day was energized by electrifying performances from the Uplift Wisdom Drumline, Warriorettes, and Uplift Crescendo Primary Cheerleaders. And to top it off, our very own President, DJ Remy, made a special appearance! We were also deeply moved by a surprise visit from three Uplift alumni, Gaston Hernandez, Christianah Adejokun, and Gio Sanchez who shared their personal journeys and the profound impact Uplift educators, and staff have had on their lives. It was a powerful reminder to everyone in the room of the significant role they play as changemakers. This Convocation set a positive tone for the uplifting days ahead. Our Summer Youth Exploration Program at Baylor Scott & White is inspiring our Scholars and Alumni to explore unique opportunities in the medical field, such as Art Medicine. Recently, they visited the open art studio, engaging in drip art and learning from art and music therapists about the role of art in creating a healing environment. This experience highlights the diverse pathways within the medical field beyond traditional roles like doctors and nurses. Leaders from Uplift Education and Baylor Scott & White Health recently had the opportunity to join Tegrity Contractors Inc, our builders, on a hard hat tour of the new Uplift Heights Healthcare Institute. We were thrilled to see the new flooring, labs, and classrooms that will all resemble a hospital environment. These new additions will support scholars in their hands-on learning. We can’t wait to see the halls filled with eager-to-learn 9th graders, ready to embark on their healthcare education journey. We are thrilled to announce the completion of Part 1 of our Summer Youth Exploration Program! 🎉 Eight dedicated scholars and alumni celebrated their achievements at our certification ceremony held at Baylor Scott & White. This summer, our scholars immersed themselves in various medical departments, including Supply Chain, Nutrition/Aramark, Respiratory, Neurodiagnostics, Wound Care/HBO, Case Management, Patient Safety/Epidemiology, and Radiology. They gained invaluable insights into the healthcare field, exploring their interests and advancing their education. A heartfelt thank you to Baylor Scott & White for providing this hands-on learning experience, which supports our scholars on their pathway to becoming medical professionals.
