We are thrilled to announce the successful export and arrival of fresh California peaches and nectarines to Vietnam, marking a significant trade milestone for U.S. agriculture! 🤝 This achievement opens a $2.5 million market, thanks to the collaborative efforts of USDA, the U.S. Embassy in Vietnam, the California Fresh Fruit Association, and Vietnam's Plant Protection Department. On August 14th we celebrated this success in Hanoi, recognizing the strong trade partnership between the U.S. and Vietnam. Our commitment at USDA-APHIS and USDA-FAS remains focused on facilitating safe and resilient trade, supporting U.S. producers, and providing global access to America’s top-quality and diverse agricultural products. Pictured in the photo (top left of the montage) celebrating the fruit’s arrival in Hanoi is U.S. Ambassador Marc Knapper, Regional Manager APHIS IS, Marc Gilkey, CFFA Trade Director, Caroline Stringer, Vietnam Plant Protection Department Deputy Director, Mr. Heui, and FAS Senior Counselor, Ralph Bean. #TradeSuccess #Agriculture #USDA #APHIS #GlobalTrade #FAS

  • Creating new export opportunities is a critical part of USDA’s efforts to boost revenue streams for U.S. producers and agribusinesses and generate economic prosperity in rural communities. Exports are a critical driver of economic progress across the United States and have direct benefits for U.S. agriculture. Agriculture Deputy Secretary Torres Small announced an additional $300 million available through the Regional Agricultural Promotion Program (RAPP) to help grow export markets for high quality American farm and food products around the world! “Access to international markets supports U.S. farmers at home and food security throughout the world,” said Deputy Secretary Torres Small. “USDA launched RAPP last year as part of the Biden-Harris Administration’s commitment to create more, new, and better markets for U.S. producers and agribusinesses, and we’ve seen tremendous interest, culminating in more than a billion dollars in proposals for the first $300 million round of RAPP funding earlier this year. Given the importance of exports in supporting farm income and rural economic development, we’re delighted to be able to make an additional $300 million available this year.” #AgInvestment #exports #trade Read more: https://lnkd.in/eHGf34rw For more information about RAPP, visit: https://lnkd.in/dpvenCwi

  • We have 6 Scientific Exchanges Fellows from 5 different African countries doing research at New Mexico State University. The cutting-edge knowledge and expertise from participating in the African Animal Feed & Fertilizer Innovation (AAFFI) Program will allow the Fellows to enact impactful change in their communities. The AAFFI Program focuses on research related to increasing access to high quality animal feed and innovative techniques, which can improve the efficiency of fertilizers among African smallholder farmers. High quality, available animal feed plays a vital role in improving animal health and welfare! This directly impacts producing safe animal-origin products and overall food security. Additionally, in a rapidly changing agricultural environment, farmers need to make strategic decisions about their animal feed and improve upon fertilizer production methods to jump start the next generation of fertilizers. Considering this, the AAFFI Program illustrates how the adopting improved animal feeding -- coupled with innovative and efficient fertilizer, nutrient management, and cropping practices -- will assist in reducing food insecurity. New Mexico State University is the right fit for the AAFFI Program. The Minority / Hispanic Serving Institution is a leader in agriculture science and innovation. Plus, New Mexico's ag and farming landscape is similar to Fellows' home countries in Sub-Saharan Africa, making NMSU the ideal partner for these Fellows to have the greatest impact in their local communities. #AgInnovation #AgScience #fellowships #ClimateSmartAg

  • Growing ag exports and trade is a key to increasing incomes for American agribusinesses and farms, and their local communities. In two weeks, TFAA Under Secretary Alexis Taylor will be leading a #AgTradeMission to Colombia to strengthen existing and build new trade opportunities. “Colombia is a significant growth market for U.S. agricultural exports. As Latin America’s third-most-populous country, it features an expanding middle class and rising consumer purchasing power,” said Taylor. “Colombian consumers are hungry for the world-class food and agricultural products that the U.S. offers and I am excited to see how this mission expands bilateral trade and provides new opportunities for U.S. agriculture.” U.S. food and farm products are highly sought after in the Colombian market. In 2023, U.S. agricultural exports to Colombia reached a record $3.7 billion and Colombia ranks as the seventh-largest market for U.S. agricultural exports. While in Colombia, trade mission delegates will participate in business-to-business meetings with potential customers and policy discussions that will help build on the strong trade ties forged by the U.S.-Colombia Trade Promotion Agreement.
