As we head into another exciting cheer competition season, we're thrilled to highlight one of the most meaningful initiatives in the cheer community—the CheerABILITIES program. Boosting school spirit begins with student engagement! 📚✨ Research proves that active participation in sports and extracurricular activities increases school spirit and enhances student well-being, academic achievement, sense of belonging and resilience. At 16 years old, Laurie Hernandez made history as the first Latina in three decades to join the U.S. Women’s Olympic Gymnastics team at the 2016 Rio Olympics where she secured a gold medal with her team and a silver on the balance beam. 🏅 Beyond her athletic success, Laurie advocates for diversity, representation, and positive body image. She uses her platform to inspire others with her message of self-confidence and perseverance. Her book, "I Got This: To Gold and Beyond," serves as a powerful reminder of the strength and resilience within us all. #HispanicHeritageMonth is a time to honor the rich cultural contributions and achievements of Hispanic and Latinx individuals like Laurie Hernandez.
