Fast Company recently toured THE PENN DISTRICT, exploring its remarkable transformation into a vibrant, pedestrian-friendly tech hub. “Where once there was a FedEx, there is now a Blue Bottle Coffee. Just next door, there is an upscale sushi bar, a hip taqueria, a Roberta’s Pizza, and an Anita Gelato, both opening this month. The Commercial Observer’s Spring State of Office Forum, held at PENN 2’s Town Hall and hosted by Vornado Realty Trust and Cushman & Wakefield, brought together key real estate leaders, including Glen Weiss, Vornado’s EVP, Co-Head of Real Estate & Office Leasing. The event took place in the 4,000 SF multi-use theater space suspended above Plaza 33. Executives discussed how they navigated 2023 to end the year on top, assessed market performance with 2024 Q1 data, and explored the trajectory of the office sector as tenant’s needs evolve.

The Real Deal recently toured PENN 2, led by Brad Zizmor of Architecture Plus Information (A+I) and Dan Shannon of MdeAS Architects, who designed the interior and exterior of PENN 2. Their collaboration focused on "designing from the inside out," emphasizing that an office worker’s experience extends beyond the office to the building’s surroundings. PENN 2 is an architectural icon that continues Vornado's WorkLife amenity ethos by featuring over an acre of outdoor terraces and various flexible tenant spaces for working, socializing, and private events. 555 California Street has been recognized by CleanPowerSF, an initiative that rewards customers for cutting down their energy consumption during peak demand periods on California’s electric grid. The 2023 season, spanning from July to October, witnessed the highest number of participants and the largest load reduction in the program’s history. The annual awards highlight select partners for innovative and industry-leading accomplishments in implementing and promoting practices, principles, and procedures of energy management. We have been honored for adopting organics collection in 100% of Vornado’s in-service office portfolio to achieve a nearly 65% diversion rate that kept over 1,600 tons of food waste from disposal and avoided over 14 MTCO2e.
