Podium façade installation almost finished on The Ellery, at 311 West 42nd Street in Midtown, Manhattan We are thrilled to announce that The Ellery, a 33-story mixed-use tower at 312 West 43rd Street in Manhattan, is nearing completion! As the providers, we are proud to see our contributions defining the building’s unique aesthetic. 🏙️ For The Ellery’s podium glass curtain wall, Intercom was commissioned to develop the external facade for Wall Type 14 (WT14). The combination of yellow fritted glass and external fins derived from folded sheets of metal creates a striking visual effect to mimic Times Square’s lively screens and signs. The major curtain wall unit is approximately 18 feet high by 6 feet wide, with aluminium claddings framing the entire podium façade and single-piece aluminium external fins protruding about one foot deep. This façade, a result of rigorous planning and teamwork, required precise engineering and strict adherence to timelines. 🌃 Working near Times Square presented unique challenges, including nighttime installations enabled by special permits. Our Technical Department’s expertise and seamless coordination with the on-site team were crucial in meeting the deadline.
