  • Today, over 50 BRIDGE teachers began participating in the program’s two-week summer training! BRIDGE is WESD’s alternate teaching pathway certification, which trains individuals who have a bachelor’s degree in an area outside of education to become teachers. These training sessions provide BRIDGE teachers with the essential tools to successfully begin teaching in their own classrooms. The group was welcomed by Superintendent Dr. Paul Stanton, Assistant Superintendents Dr. Lyn Bailey and Lori Mora, Coordinator of Teacher Support Elizabeth Vasey and the amazing team of BRIDGE Coaches – Betty Paterson, Karla Herbst, Chris Hood, Josh Cakebread and Ryan Reid whose combined experience will provide our newest educators with a wealth of knowledge and support as they begin their teaching journey. A special thank you to Dutch Bros, LaMar's Donuts and Black Rock Coffee for their generous donations for the training sessions! The #WESDFamily could not be more proud of our BRIDGE teachers! We are looking forward to an incredible year!

  • Congratulations to Dr. Amy Troutt, WESD Director of EdTech and Online Learning, who recently earned the Certified Education Technology Leader® (CET®) designation by passing a rigorous certification exam! The CETL certification, awarded by the Consortium for School Networking (CoSN), signifies that Amy has mastered the knowledge and skills needed to bring 21st Century technology to schools and other education organizations.   To become certified, the candidate must have demonstrated experience in the education technology field and pass a comprehensive examination based on the 10 skill areas in CoSN’s Framework of Essential Skills of the K-12 CTO. Once the CETL certification is earned, the education technology leader must complete 60 hours of professional development activities every three years to maintain the designation.   Way to go, Amy! The #WESDFamily is very proud of you and your incredible achievement!
