This week’s #NurseDayThursday, Latoya Montesarchio, BSN, RN, has worked at White Plains Hospital for the past 14 years – and describes it as her “home away from home!” Latoya started her career at the Hospital as a Nurse Apprentice. She worked as a per diem nursing technician while pursuing her nursing degree from the College of New Rochelle, joining full-time in 2014. After she became a registered nurse, she joined the Float Pool, which offers “a chance to see the whole hospital and understand all of the moving parts.” While she has witnessed significant growth throughout her tenure at WPH, the Hospital’s culture of teamwork and the opportunity to build meaningful connections with patients continue to make Latoya’s work rewarding. “It makes me feel good when patients say thank you, or when they want you to come back to take care of them. You can feel the impact that you’ve made on their lives.” Thank you, Latoya, for being exceptional, every day!

This week’s #NurseDayThursday is Jackie Tamborrino, one of our 5E nurses! After studying psychology at Iona University and completing an internship as a substance abuse counselor, Jackie realized how meaningful it could be to develop relationships and intimate connections with patients. She returned to school to pursue nursing and earned her BSN from Concordia College. The Westchester native began working on 5E at White Plains Hospital in the summer of 2018 and has cared for patients with a variety of needs, including those undergoing treatment for COVID and those recovering from surgery. “Connecting with patients makes my job so meaningful,” she said. “When you go to nursing school, that’s all you hope for – to give your patients reassurance and know they trust you and are comfortable with your care.” Jackie credits her colleagues for keeping her engaged and inspired. She said, “It's rewarding to be around such smart driven people. They make me a better person every day.” Jackie plans to further her education with the resources White Plains Hospital offers to its employees to earn her master of science in nursing. Thank you, Jackie, for being exceptional, every day!
