Saint Paul Promise recently celebrated the graduation of their fourth Promise Advocates Cohort (PAC). The PAC program offers families the opportunity to build political power, advocate for themselves, and create real change. Our wonderful graduates have come up with the PAC's very first Advocacy Action Plan! This plan will serve as a blueprint for developing the next Saint Paul Promise Policy Agenda. Together, we will work to push this agenda forward at the city, county, state, and federal levels in collaboration with our PAC Graduates. A heartfelt appreciation to Chef Okkoy for generously providing lunch from Nanny's Jamaican Kitchen, and to Rena Moran, Ramsey County Commissioner, for sharing her story and engaging in robust discussions. A new study from the MN Department of Health and Wilder Research showed that 17% of people being treated for mental health or substance use disorders experienced a discharge delay from inpatient care. The most common reason for discharge delays was a lack of available beds in a safe setting like inpatient psychiatric units and intensive residential treatment service facilities for adult and pediatric patients.
