L.A.'s rapping sommelier Dev the Somm, aka Devin Reed, returned to the airwaves of social media this week, with a new video for his “Wine, Wine, Wine” cover song of Jay-Z’s 2001 hit. In search of a suitable sidekick, our wine-rhyming hero turned to comedy legend and six-time NAACP Image Award winner Cedric the Entertainer. Italian photographer Oliviero Toscani is known as the mercurial father of late 20th-century “shockvertising” and the artistic director behind some of clothing brand Benetton's most provocative ads. Less known is that Toscani and his family have had a 40-year adventure in farming and winemaking in the Tuscan countryside. Toscani's largely wild, 400-acre property, just outside Bolgheri, is now closely run by his son, Rocco, who a decade ago brought his own, often-defiant personality to Toscani and its wines. Country music icon Dolly Parton is making her mark in the wine world with the launch of Dolly Wines! Her first release is a 2023 California Chardonnay, now available in the U.S., featuring her signature rhinestoned butterflies. In a recent interview, Wine Spectator senior editor MaryAnn Worobiec spoke with Helen McCarthy, Accolade’s global director of winemaking and Dolly’s partner in this venture.
