While the Saks-Neiman Marcus deal was not unexpected after it was disclosed on Wednesday, it did reverberate through the industry, raising enormous questions and concerns. Marc Metrick, chief executive officer of Saks, said he reacted by sending a letter to vendors and employees, a copy of which was attained by WWD. In the letter, he wrote, “When this transaction closes, which will happen after customary regulatory review, we will establish Saks Global, a technology-driven company that brings together renowned retailers and real estate assets.” If the government green-lights the deal, Marc Metrick will become CEO of Saks Global, the combined Saks-Neiman Marcus entity. Discussing what lies ahead in the immediate future, he told WWD on Thursday, “We will focus on what we can control and our strategy.” Read more: https://lnkd.in/e64yyf6k

When Missy Elliott takes the stage on Thursday at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, it’s not just the concert that will be out of this world, it’s also the costumes. The 30-date tour that hits major North American cities before wrapping up Aug. 22 in Rosemont, Ill., marks the first headlining tour for the multiplatinum-selling rapper, singer, songwriter and producer. Called “Out of This World,” the tour will also feature Busta Rhymes, Ciara and Timbaland. To bring her intergalactic vision to life, Elliott turned to her longtime collaborator, celebrity stylist June Ambrose who created nearly 250 costumes for Elliott and her dancers. At the Tokyo Olympics, medals were presented on a fan-shaped tray made of recyclable thermoplastic polymer. In Paris, they will be carried to the podium on a Louis Vuitton tray covered in the brand’s signature Damier canvas. Parent company LVMH, a premium partner of the Olympic Games in Paris, revealed the design alongside the 1920s-inspired outfits designed for the 515 volunteers selected by the Paris 2024 organizing committee to present the medals. Antoine Arnault, the group’s head of communication, image and environment, said it was a “subliminal” way for the brand to participate in the sporting event without using a logo. ”We found this way to be present that is very discreet and at the same time, paradoxically, very visible,” he said. #branding #sports #sponsorship #luxury #advertising #events

Golden Goose chief executive officer Silvio Campara kicked off his discussion at FN’s Summit in late June by addressing the unexpected postponement of the company’s initial public offering. “The financial market and the real world are quite disconnected,” Campara said. “What is happening now in Europe, with elections in France and the U.K., will soon happen here in America. So, elections are freezing the world for the next couple of months, and we are waiting for a much more calm and steady market scenario to go public. I don’t think now would be a good time to be represented in the market. But we will be back.” Read more : https://lnkd.in/eEH_KPnA
