In countries affected by conflict and war, Women for Women International supports the most marginalized women to earn and save money, improve health and well-being, influence decisions in their home and community, and connect to networks for support. By utilizing skills, knowledge, and resources, she is able to create sustainable change for herself, her family, and community. Since 1993, Women for Women International (WfWI) has provided women survivors of war, and conflict with resources to move from crisis and poverty to stability and self-sufficiency. WfWI delivers these resources through a tiered, yearlong program that begins with direct financial aid and emotional support. Participants also learn about their legal rights; receive life-skills training such as health awareness, numeracy, budgeting and saving, decision-making and negotiation, and civic participation; learn business and vocational skills; and gain access to income-generating activities where they can apply those skills and begin moving towards economic stability. Along with helping more than 478,000 women in the past 20 years to rebuild their own lives and those of their families and communities after war, WfWI uses its voice to call global attention to the unique role that women play in advancing peace throughout society. In 2023 alone, thousands of civilians were tragically killed or injured in armed conflicts. 2024 is no different with the death toll already staggering. In the last 3 years I’ve donated over £60,000 to charity. And I want to give more. 📯 We are looking for new charity partners to support. --- Across my businesses, we give 2% of all our revenue away. Years ago I set this commitment. I saw other businesses talk about 1% and my simple brain thought “that doesn’t feel like very much. I saw other businesses give a % of profit and thought, “that just means I pay myself more and there is less to go around!”. So, I decided it would be revenue and I decided 2% felt stretching. 2% always, not 10% that I can’t sustain. We’ve partnered with the Sambhali Trust in Rajasthan for years. We fund the Laadli Boarding House that is home to almost 20 young women from extremely socio-economically deprived backgrounds. It costs £20,000 a year and we’ve committed that for as long as possible, we’ll support them. Now, our business has grown and we have more to donate. --- We’re looking for a second partner. I know there are an extra-ordinary number of phenomenal causes around the world and any parameters I set out to judge one over another are arbitrary, but we’ve got to start somewhere, so we do have a brief. Our brief? Focused on female empowerment, ideally. Personally I am very motivated by women’s refuges, supporting low income mothers, micro-financing schemes. Based in or very near the UK. I want the team to be able to visit without flying half way around the world. Understanding of what our money can do. Ideally we can communicate clearly to the team what our donation covers, eg. With Sambhali we can fund the Laadlhi Boarding house in full. Able to share the news We are looking for a charity can provide regular and engaging marketing materials that highlight their work and impact. Cindy Ngamba made history at the Paris Olympics by becoming the first athlete for the Refugee Olympic Team to win a medal. 🌟🏅 At the age of 10, Cindy moved to the UK from Cameroon, a country she is unable to return to because of her sexuality. Despite living in England for 15 years, she was not able to compete for Team GB because she hasn't been granted citizenship.
