My heartfelt empathy and solidarity with the Afghanistan people especially Heart province affected by the deadliest catastrophe, the earthquake that affected Heart Province in west Afghanistan on 9 October 2023 The earthquake, with a magnitude of 6.3. This disaster has caused a great deal of suffering and devastation that has severely affected thousands of people. It is our responsibility as humans to assist those in need. We are writing to ask for your help in assisting the victims of this calamity, but also to share an important message. In a region known to be prone to earthquakes, the integrity of infrastructures was neglected, which led to the dramatic outcome that is in front of our eyes and the loss of lives. We, therefore, want to emphasize why science and technology are vital for understanding how to reduce the impacts of crises. Science and technology, once again, could have saved lives thanks to the construction of solid infrastructure and the use of measures to foresee the impact of earthquakes. We recognize that you are most certainly receiving several requests for aid, but we encourage you to evaluate the gravity of the issue. Winter affected millions of individuals in Afghanistan and West Afghanistan. The victims of this calamity require our assistance now more than ever, and we are convinced that with your help, we will have a long-term influence on their lives.

Women Solidarity for Peace and Leadership (WSPL), a nonprofit organization based in San Francisco, Ca, was established on September 1, 2021 in Afghanistan by Afghan women youths, mostly living abroad. The WSPL idea was formed 14 years ago when two Afghan sisters in middle school dreamt of a bigger vision to reduce and omit discrimination, inequality, and violence against girls and women in their home country of Afghanistan, and create a place where women can fly high without any fall risk, and no one can clip their wings. WSPL aims to advocate and amplify women's voices by uniting influential figures worldwide and developing programs that empower women and girls to reach their full potential.
