We are excited to welcome our newest AO board member to the YMCA of Greater San Francisco’s Board of Directors, Dr. Carlene J. Wong-Lee, a doctor who dedicated most of her career to youth and has been a part of our YMCA community. Dr. Carlene J. Wong-Lee was born and raised in San Francisco with strong ties to San Francisco’s Chinatown community where her father grew up and later opened a law practice on Waverly Place, across from Chinatown YMCA. After graduating from Lowell High School, she received her Bachelor of Science from Yale University, medical degree from University of California San Diego and specialty training at University of California San Francisco. Dr. Carlene J. Wong-Lee is a neonatal-perinatal physician with over 30 years of pediatric experience. She recently retired from Kaiser Permanente after a long career dedicated to caring for infants in the neonatal intensive care unit. While at Kaiser Permanente, she helped lead multiple performance improvement projects to improve clinical outcomes. She is passionate about supporting health and wellness in the community and has an expertise in philanthropy that can lead our community towards building a better future for all. “The YMCA of Greater San Francisco is an amazing non-profit organization dedicated to supporting and uplifting the health and well-being of all communities in the San Francisco Bay Area. My family has ties to the YMCA spanning over 75 years, dating back to the 1950’s when my father and uncle belonged to youth development programs. I am thrilled to be joining the YGSF Board and look forward to supporting an organization that has greatly benefited the community, including my family.” -Dr. Carlene J. Wong-Lee

Yesterday, our Urban Services' YEF program presented their 2023-2024 annual report to some of our staff and community members to highlight their impact, progress, and youth grantee projects that were chosen by our youth community funders.
