Is your money plan limiting your choices (and your life)? 🤔 💵 When you give every dollar a job, you're asking yourself what you want your money to do for you RIGHT NOW. The problem is, if you don't regularly question your plan and make adjustments, your dollars can start to represent what you USED to want. You might find yourself following this outdated plan because you want to feel like you're being responsible, or “good” with our money, but we've said this before and we'll say it again: rigid plans break. 🚫 To avoid this, look over your money plan on a regular basis and ask yourself these questions: ✨ Are there any spending categories that no longer fit my life? ✨ Are there any goals or priorities that I should add? ✨ Is there anything coming up that requires an adjustment to the plan? ✨ Does this plan feel aligned with who I am right now? Your money represents you—your time, your energy, and your priorities. So as you grow, learn, widen your horizons, make adjustments to the plan so you can show up in the world exactly how you want to. #YNAB #IntentionalSpending

💡Crazy idea: What if you did this one thing differently while paying off debt? ⬇️ Let's say you're using the snowball method to pay off debt and you pick the debt with the lowest outstanding balance to pay off first. Typically, once that debt is paid off, you'd take the amount you were paying toward it and roll it into the payment for the debt with the second lowest outstanding balance. 💡 But what if you took a break for a month and did something fun instead? Picture this: You pay off your car that had a monthly payment of $350. The next month, you take that $350 and do something fun with it to celebrate. 🎉 Book a hotel, go out for a fancy dinner, get something you've been wanting to buy...you get the picture. Doing this does three things: 💰 It gives you a tangible representation of how much money you just freed up. 😌 It helps you avoid burnout while on your debt-free journey. 🥳 It gives you a chance to pause and celebrate what you just accomplished. Would you do this? Let us know! #YNAB #DebtFreeJourney #Debt #MoneyTips

🌶️ Hot take: There's no such thing as a "small" financial win. Hear me out ⬇️ Yes, hearing stories about things like... 💳 paying off large amounts of debt 🏝️ funding a bucket list vacation 💰 getting a month ahead can be very inspiring, but can also feel out of reach if you're just getting started. We think things like... 🥕 using your card at the grocery store without wondering if it'll go through 🚙 paying for a large bill in cash because you've prepared for it 🗓️ getting through a full month without going into overdraft 😌 stressing less about money and getting better sleep 🤝 being on the same page as your partner about your finances are equally as inspiring and celebration-worthy. 🥳 When you're intentional with your money, you'll start to notice wins like this happening more and more frequently. ✨ ➡️ What's a small financial win (that's actually a big win) that you've experienced lately? #YNAB #SmallWins #PersonalFinance #MoneyTips

💡 Food for thought: When deciding what to do with your money before you get paid again, don't just ask yourself, "What are my bills between now and my next paycheck?" Ask yourself... 🎁 What birthdays or events are happening soon? 🚙 What larger bills or expenses do I need to start preparing for? 🧋 What do I want to spend on that brings me joy? 🏝️ What do I want to start saving for? 📈 What financial goals am I trying to accomplish? ⛽️ How much will I need for groceries, gas, or other essentials? 💳 What debt do I want to start paying extra toward? When you give every dollar a job, it's important to focus on your priorities and keep the big picture in mind. ✨ #YNAB #PersonalFinance #MoneyTips #FinancialAdvice #PeaceOfMind

🌶️ Hot take: Future income should NOT be included in your active money plan. Hear us out... Before you prioritize your money, ask yourself two questions: 1. "How much money do I have on hand right now?" 2. "What does this money need to do for me before I get paid again?" When you're only working with the money you have right now, you're forced to make trade-offs and weigh your options. There's a big difference between: ➡️ "Based on how much money I'll make, I can spend $1000 on groceries this month." and... ➡️ "Based on how much money I have right now and my other priorities, I can spend $150 on groceries between now and when I get paid again." Future income should not shape the decisions you make with your money today. Arrange your priorities around the money you have right now and you'll have total clarity and control over your money. ✨ 💡 Learn more about the dangers of forecasting: https://lnkd.in/gwHzqtaw

🌶 Hot take: There's no such thing as a normal month. Let's talk about it... When I was living paycheck to paycheck, I would get to the end of the month and say, "Wow, this month was wild, but next month things should get back to normal and then I'll catch up." But it never was, and I never did. 🍋 Life has a way of handing you unexpected lemons on a pretty consistent basis. The car breaks down. You find out your kid needs braces. Said kid throws a baseball through your living room window. You cut your finger picking up the glass from said window and have to take a trip to the E.R. So instead of banking on next month being a "normal month" build unexpected expenses into your money plan. ✍️ Future you will be glad you did. #YNAB #PersonalFinance #MoneyAdvice
