The Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corporation, commonly referred to as YKHC, is a Tribal Organization that administers a comprehensive healthcare delivery system for 58 rural communities in southwest Alaska. Each of the communities in our service area is home to a federally-recognized Tribe, whose governing council has authorized YKHC to provide health services on behalf of the federal Indian Health Service (IHS). YKHC’s healthcare delivery system includes community clinics, sub-regional clinics in five of the area’s larger communities, a regional hospital, dental and optometry services, behavioral health services, substance abuse counseling and treatment, health promotion and disease prevention programs, and environmental health services.

  • YKHC offers job opportunities across the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta, an expansive area in southwest Alaska that covers 75,000 square miles. The region is home to thousands of lakes and two primary rivers—the Kuskokwim and Yukon. About 28,000 people live in the region in more than 50 rural communities. Most villages range in size from 25 to over 1,000 persons. Bethel, the location of the regional hospital, has a population of nearly 7,000. None of the region’s communities are connected by road (with the exception of one road that connects two communities in the northern part of the region.) Small aircraft are the primary mode of transportation within the region. During the winter, people travel between communities via snowmachine or drive on the ice road on the frozen rivers. In summer, intra-regional travel is done via boat or 4-wheel. We love it here. Come join us! Learn more at https://www.ykhc.org/work/

  • 2023 was a busy year at YKHC! Together with tribes, we arranged for providers to spend more than 1,500 days in village clinics, increased childhood immunization rates by 10%, saw an average of 100 customers a day in our outpatient clinic, enrolled nearly 500 people in smoking cessation programs, welcomed 328 babies, and much more. There’s more work to do and we are focused on making continued improvements in 2024. Come join us! To learn more, view YKHC’s 2023 Report to the People online at https://lnkd.in/gHrJhxiQ.
