Official Charlie Baker for MA Governor 2014 Election Day Lawyer and Poll Monitor, Duties included looking for evidence of voter fraud and/or suppression throughout the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as citizens entered the polls to exercise their right to vote. Training was hosted by former MA Governor Bill Weld and his former deputy counsel in Boston during the weeks prior to the election. Assigned to polling stations in the City of Lowell. No significant incidents observed or reported.

This two-day celebration of music and optimism, features three stages of nationally known musical talent, hands-on games, interactive arts activities, and the "Good Kids" zone — home to the top acts in kids entertainment. The goal of the weekend is to create a community of fundraisers. Festival-goers who raise funds for the Life is good Playmakers will be rewarded with exclusive backstage hospitality, preferred concert viewing, artist meet and greets and other prizes. These fundraisers are called VGP’s – Very Good People – and have a once-in-a-lifetime concert experience, as well as the satisfaction that comes naturally by simply being a very good person.

Additional church-related activities included Bible-based book study groups, attending Deacon's retreats, volunteering at the annual First Congregational Church Summer Fair, chaperoning at Senior High Fellowship dances and on numerous weekend youth group trips throughout Maine, Massachusetts and New Hampshire, including Nantucket Island by ferry in the fall, Operation Deep Freeze (aptly-named) every winter at Camp Berea on Newfound Lake in Hebron, NH and Medieval-style Hammond Castle… Mehr zeigen

A "smoker" bout was often--for all intents and purposes--a professional prize-fight conducted under the auspices of a private, charitable club in those jurisdictions which prohibited prize-fighting, but that allowed, for example: "Sparring or fencing amongst members of private clubs for exercise only or for the enjoyment of their fraternal brothers." Thus, many "amateur" bouts were fought in the various American Legion posts, Eagles, Elks, Knights of Columbus, and other private clubs for their "members." Anyone wishing to witness a match was required to obtain a membership card and levied an assessment for the seat. The boxers were paid "training expenses." The authorities generally turned a blind eye to these bouts. When pressed, the promoters termed these bouts "amateur."
