KLCC was awarded a 2018 Regional Edward R. Murrow Award for Brian Bull's report All Ears on Deck! A Gallery of Noises From the Ocean Deep. The award, presented by the Radio Television Digital News Association, is for Excellence in Sound.

The RTDNA Edward R. Murrow Awards are among the most prestigious in broadcast and digital news.

Brian Bull from KLCC in Eugene, Oregon, will receive the 2017 PRNDI/NEFE Excellence in Consumer Financial Reporting Award. Bull’s story, "Robust Eugene-Springfield Housing Market Subject To Potential Downturns,” showcased a couple moving from the rural east coast to Oregon and the tough financial decisions they faced while trying to buy a home in a more expensive housing market.

“There are many new and young first-time homebuyers that are drawn to the Eugene-Springfield region, who are confronted with steadily climbing prices that may push their financial comfort level to new bounds,” said Bull. “Some may put off such purchases, causing economic outcomes that may affect their financial standing and that of their communities. Others are priced out of their preferred region altogether, taking their families to parts beyond the Eugene area that are not as familiar but more affordable.”

This year marks the third year that PRNDI has partnered with the National Endowment for Financial Education (NEFE) to highlight consumer financial journalism produced in public media.

“Brian Bull and KLCC offer in-depth storytelling on how one family carefully considered their budget when buying a home in a competitive marketplace. Awarded in 2015 for Large Market Radio Writing. My three submissions were for stories about an annual sauerkraut festival; a naturalization ceremony for 40 immigrants; and a culinary institution that trains inmates in haute cuisine in the Cleveland area.

Awarded in 2014 for Large Market Radio Series, for my five-part series of self-narratives titled "The Working Poor". Area Clevelanders struggling to make ends meet paycheck to paycheck are profiled, and David K. Shipler, who's written extensively about this demographic, is also featured.

The Ohio Associated Press bestowed this award on me after my first year of reporting with 90.3 WCPN ideastream, covering the economy, politics, city government, housing, and cultural events.

NAJA bestowed one of its highest awards to me based on series of Native American features and spot reports filed while with South Dakota Public Radio.

Produced a one-hour documentary on South Dakota's role in World War II, titled "Dakota Heroes", which consisted of segments produced by myself and other SDPR reporters. Clock structure, editing, coaching, and mixdown were final tasks as I collaborated with SDPB Director of Radio and narrator Tom Dempster on project.
