In 2018-2019, these efforts led the Church to award $252,000 in tithe grants to the Washington School for Girls, San Miguel School, Washington Jesuit Academy, the Capital Area Immigrant Rights Coalition (CAIR), the Kalmanovitz Initiative at Georgetown University to help people pay the fees associated with applications for citizenship and Trinity's sister parish in Haiti, St. Jean Baptiste, among many others. The Catalogue for Philanthropy: Greater Washington is the region's only locally-focused guide to giving and volunteering. Their goal is to create visibility for local charities, fuel their growth with philanthropic dollars, and create a movement for social good in our region. As a volunteer reviewer, I assess organizations who are seeking to be included in the annual Catalogue for impact, community need and financial transparency.
