Dee Dee Mendoza

A community of Dartmouth alumni in startups who come together around philanthropy designed specifically for entrepreneurs. Members pledge future support to Dartmouth when their equity grows and becomes liquid. The community itself offers value and makes it easier for the College to channel relevant resources and connection opportunities to entrepreneurs.

A collaborative effort with the team from the Foundry@CITRIS, the Berkeley Innovators Series showcases some of Cal's most dynamic and prominent alumni in its lecture format, including Gagan Biyani (Sprig/Udemy), Jack McCauley (OculusVR), & Marc Tarpenning (Tesla); and in a private group mentoring format, including one such event with Shervin Pishevar (Sherpa Ventures, Hyperloop Technologies). Altogether, the series has attracted nearly 700 student registrations in a few short months.

The Berkeley Innovators website indexes >80 innovation and entrepreneurship-related courses, degrees, programs, competitions, research projects, engagement opportunities, events and student groups from all areas of campus. It organizes these resources based on audience and desired action.

[CASE Circle of Excellence Grand Gold Award - June 2015] Conceptualized and developed the Berkeley Founders' Pledge, a unique campuswide support and engagement platform for Cal alumni and faculty startup founders and employees. Program establishes a structure/process for channeling Berkeley recruiting, visibility, networking, and special experience resources to members and their companies; incorporates flexible downstream philanthropic elements. Launched the first ever Berkeley Innovators Product Show, where invited Cal-founded startups and pre-IPO companies can showcase their products to University buyers and users across multiple campuses, agencies, departments and functions. Vendors also hear from a panel of insiders who can share info on working with UC as a client.
