“I have worked with Marten for more than 5 years. He is a remarkable leader, but a couple of things really stand out to me about Marten: (1) His ability to focus in on what is truly important. There is a lot of chaos when launching a completely new product in a new vertical using bleeding-edge technology. That chaos can lead to a lot of distractions. Marten has a real instinct for what is important, and zeros in on that. He knows how to focus in on what is truly important to customers. He has a remarkable ability to take in information about very technical topics in which he has no background, and immediately begin to distill what is important, and contribute meaningfully to the conversation. (2) His ability to really understand the mindset of our customers. Marten has the ability to empathize with customers. He understands the what motivates them, and how we can help them achieve their goals. Being on the cutting edge of technology that sometimes doesn't behave as expected, more than once I have been with Marten on a call with an angry customer, and at the beginning of the call I thought we were on the verge of being kicked out. But Marten puts himself in the customer's shoes, and shows them how we can work together to make them more successful. By the end of the call the customer is thanking us for what we have done, and talking about ways we can work together more in the future. It is remarkable to experience. I have learned a lot working with Marten, and would not hesitate to work with him again in the future. ”
