In this changing industry there are two main reasons you do not find the right fit in terms of qualifications. One is that skilled individuals are to expensive for a small business or the business that you run in unique and there are not many skilled candidates out there. So the best alternative is having a strong training plan in place. If you face problem one, then hire one or two expensive candidates and use your training plan to develop a team around them. If you face the second problem then hire fresh candidates with good learning skills (Jr. OR Interns) and train them according to your unique business and make your own talent. A good training plan is like the perfect recipe, just find the right ingredients to success.

Communication is the key of closing any position. Both on the customer end and the candidate end. If you are able to effectively communicate the position to the candidate and sell the right candidate to the customer with effective communication, you land a win situation. For you to communicate well you must understand your customer and what their main pain point is if you are able to understand what they really need then you can interview the right candidate properly. Even if a candidate does not fall through on one position, the communication must be so strong that they stay in touch and might be a good fit for a future opening.

Every job opening has a different set of skill sets and each skilled person needs to be found at the right place. First to reach the right person, you need to know where to find them. There are number of Job boards, platforms available but not every platforms covers every industry in terms of skill sets. Once you have the right candidate engage them on their contact number and email address. Make sure the job description is emailed before you call the candidate for a healthy conversation.

Knowing what you need to find exactly is the first step of any search. So setup a one on one with the person making the decision. In my language we can call that the intake call. We need to gather what the customer is looking for and what type of work the candidate will be doing in that role. Both of these things must be aligned or else the customer will not enjoy looking at any resumes. Make a list of skills what the customer needs, convert them into a QnA and get it approved by the customer so that when you are talking to the candidates you talk to them according to the customers expectations.

Communication is the key to any successful outcome. People with good communication skills outshine the most talented people. If you know how to put your prospective across in the right way, you are a gem to the business. Find people who are calm and listen properly, cause good communication is possible by having good listening power. Skills can be developed and polished but good communicator is something which comes naturally.

Learning and adapting is a cycle that never ends. In this current era, you need to people who are easy to adapt and learn new things. That is how skills are developed and that is how the business grow. Processes are being compressed by technology, if we keep following old methods and are reluctant in exploring and learning new ways, we will be lost in an out dated market. So hire people with a growing and positive mindset to learn and explore changes.
