    - Analyzed an economic model to asses project capital investment needs of $90 MM USD, and determined that over a 20 year lifespan the plant has a net present value of $9.9 MM USD
    - Awarded the Excellence in Chemical Engineering Senior Design Recognition for co-authoring a 100 page technical report extensively detailing both the design and the economics of the process

  • Bioreactor Design and Economic Analysis

    Collaborated with a team of four to determine the kinetics of an unknown enzyme and design a transient batch reactor to maximize profit of the enzyme substrate reaction. Considering a variety of process variables, wrote a MATLAB program to model the operation of the batch reactor and its dynamics.

  • Design and Optimization of an Ammonia Plant

    -

    Collaborated with a team of five to estimate the capital investment, operating costs, and annual profit to produce 200,000 tons of ammonia a year. Wrote a technical report and a MATLAB computer program analyzing the effects of different process variables on the overall conversion of nitrogen and the overall profit of the plant.

  • Development of a Whole Cell-Based Biosensor

    -

    Collaborated with a team of three to theoretically engineer a cell with a genetic circuit composed of DNA sequences to encode for GFP to measure fucose levels in a cell. Designed a MATLAB computer program to execute the mathematical model that predicts the output signal of the fucose sensor.

  • AIChE Chem-E-Car National Qualifier

    American Institute of Chemical Engineers Southwest Conference

    Won 2nd place in a regional tournament for designing and building a shoebox-sized car powered and stopped by chemical reactions. Using a hydrogen fuel cell (starting mechanism), arduino circuit system, and iodine clock reaction (stopping mechanism), our team's car was able to stop within 10% of the target distance.

  • President's Honor Roll

    Rice University

    The President's Honor Roll is recognition of an undergraduate’s outstanding academic achievement that particular semester. Based on semester GPA, approximately the top 30 percent of all undergraduates receive this academic recognition. The GPA required to be on the President's Honor Roll varies each semester.
