Typical projects include salmon recovery such as our acclimation net pens that released Chinook salmon smolts at Pillar Point Harbor per year for the last 7 years including 720,000 in 2018. Our smolt survival rate is the highest on the West coast, 4 times any other program.

The CIO Scholarship Foundation is 501(c)3 charity, established to help under-privileged students pursue Information Technology and Engineering degrees. To date, over $450K has been granted as endowments for scholarships at several participating colleges and universities.

Royalties from our books are donated to the foundation, along with proceeds from our annual golf tournament, start up speed dating event, the CIO Marathon and the Bay Area CIO focus groups.
