How can grassroots leaders effectively tell their stories to the media?
To effectively engage the media, grassroots leaders should begin their communication with a compelling personal story or anecdote that vividly depicts the impact of their grassroots initiatives. Without a clear and concise articulation of their initiative's mission, values, and goals in simple, relatable language, gaining media traction may prove challenging. Humanizing the narrative through personal anecdotes and real-life examples that spotlight the individuals or communities impacted by their grassroots efforts enhances the story's compelling nature.

What are the best ways to land your first job in public relations?
Often times landing your first public relations job is truly about who you know. Join a professional organization like Public Relations Society of America or Toastmasters to network face-to-face with established professionals in the industry. Attend the organization’s meetings, participate in activities and volunteer to serve on committees. This will gain you real access so when jobs are available you are the first to hear about them or are the first those professionals think about as candidates.

I'm also promoting our team's fundraising progress across social media in an effort to gain additional funding. The initial fundraising goal was $5,000. We raised more than $40,000 in Keira's name!
