“I met Dr. Jingyi Geng in 2006, when she was an undergraduate student of a mutual research collaborator. In 2008, she joined my laboratory as a PhD candidate in Rice University’s PhD program in Cognitive Neuroscience, receiving her PhD in 2015. Dr. Geng exhibited at a very early stage of her career high independence as a researcher combined with intense intellectual rigor. During her time in my laboratory, Dr. Geng demonstrated exceptionally high work productivity. She received three research fellowships, published four peer-reviewed scientific publications in top-tier journals, and presented her research six times in a variety of forums at the national and international level. Dr. Geng also demonstrated excellent attention to detail and solid methodological skills in exploring research questions. She came up with creative solutions to problems and provided high-quality mentoring of undergraduates. Jingyi was a team player, presenting her ideas and respectfully challenging others in her collaborations with international and local scientists. Simply speaking, Jingyi delivered.”
