    Poverty Alleviation

    I was one of a team of volunteers that would sleep the night at the FAPC shelter and act as night steward in case something happened. General duties included putting out dinner and breakfast and cleaning up after, and generally spending time with the residents. It was a wonderful post.

    Be Do Fly was an arts education org I helped start in 2013. We worked with Camp Amerikids (a summer camp for NYC youth who suffer from HIV and Sickle-cell disease) for 6 months running workshops and building an original piece of theater centered around the story of the Little Rock Nine. The show was attended by Earnest Green, one of the little rock nine, and was performed at the Nuyorican Poet's Cafe in the lower east side. An incredible project.

    Environment

    I helped start Yards to Gardens with Jesse Eustis, and volunteered hundreds of hours to build the web infrastructure to help create more gardens in urban environments. Much of that work was online, but I feel fortunate to have helped create several gardens (in both Minneapolis and Brooklyn), and lent my abilities as a community and garden organizer to helping create new communities IRL, as well as with the web tool.

    I directed an Equity Showcase production of Broadway Bound at the Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church Theater on 5th avenue and 55th st.

    Between 2005 and 2011 I performed in 13 shows at the Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis, including going on (understudy) for Hamlet in the final week of the original Guthrie Theater. I played starring roles in several shows, including the Glass Menagerie, Arsenic and Old Lace, Two Gentlemen of Verona, Midsummer Nights Dream, and many others.
