Here's how you can streamline volunteer onboarding and training processes using technology.
Communication needs to be multifaceted. Too often we think of only one or a limited few lanes. Communications cannot be all about donations and fundraising and program updates. Regularly providing targeted communications to volunteers leads to engagement. Once you have engaged volunteers you need to retain them. Using multi vector communication streams also increases the age range of your volunteers as the different generations have different preferences in communication modals. Software tools can allow one message to efficiently me distributed via different technological communication tools.

Here's how you can streamline volunteer onboarding and training processes using technology.
Using online training manuals provides seasonal or infrequent volunteers the opportunity to get into your systems even before they have availability to connect during your open, staffed hours. By engaging and preparing volunteers even before they are able to begin the work creates affinity and connection. When volunteers develop affinity, they are less likely to keep looking for other opportunities which can translate them into donors and champions when they aren't actively volunteering. Keeping them in your communication systems is one key, but engaging them in action (even training) is the key. All of this helps the most critical component of volunteer management, retention!

Digital forms are an invaluable opportunity to leverage technology in ways that helps keep your clearance up to date. Whether using more basic tracking tools like Excel or proprietary CRM software, keeping track of when people last had their forms submitted allows your organization to stay in compliance with clearances.
