Nicole Felice Lopez is a founding member of the VentureSchool team and serves as Director of Academic Innovation. Nicole Felice Lopez is a founding member of the VentureSchool team and serves as Director of Academic Innovation. She believes that the future of education lies in personalized, flexible learning environments that reflect the needs and desires of the communities they serve. Nicole’s experience working with homeless and transient youth at The Huckleberry House Youth Shelter of Columbus as well as with parents and caregivers moving from welfare to work at the YWCA Child Care Partnerships of Pittsburgh has deeply ingrained her conviction that we must first ask what communities want and then build together for a new future.

Nicole is proud to have served communities across California as a public school ELA and Theatre Arts teacher. Most recently, Nicole served as a Site Manager for Duquesne University’s Career Literacy for African American Youth program and Senior Implementation Manager for the Kaplan K12 Learning Services partnership with Pittsburgh Public Schools. As a forerunner of volunteer action in Pittsburgh, the Child Health Association of Sewickley, named Outstanding Philanthropic Organization in 1997 by the Western Pennsylvania Chapter of Fund Raising Executives, has grown to be a noted funding source of child-related charities in Western Pennsylvania. We are an all-volunteer organization with approximately 60 active members and a caring constituency of over 150 associate members. The gallery walk in the heart of Sewickley's business district provides the public an opportunity to visit exhibitions and learn about artists without feeling intimidated by prices or lack of knowledge about art.

25 businesses participate in the Gallery Walk. Venues range from galleries to retail shops. Stores open for sales during the walk as a way of helping support local business while celebrating and supporting local artists.

Represented Thomas Starr King Middle School for the Silverlake neighborhood of Los Angeles. Provided school to community communication and program outreach.

Coordinated after school homework help programming for high school students in an underserved community.

Provided weekly volunteer tutoring services for adults seeking assistance preparing for the G.E.D.

Weekly recorded reading sessions of textbook materials for students with visual impairments and learning disabilities.

Provided weekly meetings with students studying abroad at the university who needed English language conversational assistance.
