    Wrote a new core(mpm) for Apache 2.0 to make it handle unlimited simultaneous long running requests (capped by memory). Apache threaded-mpm was modified to perform asynchronous network io (combination of epoll/WaitForMultipleObjects & thread-pools). Apache protocol core was modified to remember state and the module interface was extended for Oracle specific modules wanting to use this facility. Binary compatibility with 3rd party apache modules was maintained.

    Wrote a new core(mpm) for Apache 2.0 to make it handle unlimited simultaneous long running requests (capped by memory). Apache threaded-mpm was modified to perform asynchronous network io (combination of epoll/WaitForMultipleObjects & thread-pools). Apache protocol core was modified to remember state and the module interface was extended for Oracle specific modules wanting to use this facility. Binary compatibility with 3rd party apache modules was maintained.

    An async apache configured with 5 workers was able to handle 2000 simultaneous very long running requests when a stock apache maxed out at 5 requests.

  • HTTP & FTP interface to Oracle Patch Repository

    Implemented HTTP/1.1 & FTP stacks to allow Oracle Releases & Patches to be distributed efficiently to customers. Some Oracle releases are in GB sizes and customers needed a reliable, restartable download mechanism. Using a common backend api, a CDN aware FTPD & HTTPD with distributed caching was implemented. The FTPD & HTTPD sit on a virtual file system running off a database (for meta data) & serve files off a distributed filesystem.

    Rewrote apache's startup, conf processing code & listener binding code to retrieve configuration on the fly from a remote configuration store. This apache is also able to process & receive configuration changes during mid-operation
