Deep Space Initiative Research Department lead by Gidon Gautel.

  • Advances in Environmental Control and Life Support Systems Technologies - a 2021 review (moved to MILKY WAY)

    -

Lead a team of electrical and mechanical engineers.
Project content was moved to DSI's Milky Way research program and then later published at IAC 22.

  • Monitoring health of Analog Astronauts using AO Scanner - Biofrequency Analytics

    -

Presented at the 2021 SpaceOps Conference

  • Understanding the Cardiovascular System in Space

    -

Collaborated with Doctors and Engineers (EOSTrack)
Using engineering tools to simulate the heart function under extreme conditions experienced during spaceflight (changes in pressure, alternating gravity levels...)

  • Neurofeedback experiences to increase human adaptation during long duration space missions

    -

Used an EEG headset to monitor and record brainwaves of interest

  • Master thesis project: Surgical Process Modeling of Robotic Partial Nephrectomy using Logic Programming

    -

Designed an AI system that uses logical reasoning to predict a surgical process when given scene understanding (Answer Set Programing)
Achieved an accuracy of 95.3% in predicting surgical steps and actions.

  • Finite Element Analysis (FEA) of hip replacement stem using Abaqus

    -

Aimed at understanding the effects of a static load (stresses) on a given design.
Conducted a sensitivity analysis for the mesh (convergence study) on Abaqus, followed by an analysis of the most critical areas affected by the load.

  • Biosensor design with Prof. Hassan Azzazy

    -

Used an Arduino microcontroller with sensors to detect changes in concentration (by color gradient) of chemical solutions

  • Bachelor's thesis project: Formula 3 car body design using biomimicry, with an automated rear wing.

    -

I was responsible for conducting a Computational Fluid Dynamics study of a car body under simulated race conditions using Ansys FLUENT
Design of the car body was inspired by the beak of a kingfisher bird for minimum drag and efficiency
Designed the car chassis and body on Solidworks
    3D printed a scaled-down model and conducted Wind-tunnel testing
Designed and programmed (Arduino) an automated rear wing using an Airfoil design (NASA)

  • Team project: Designed, Manufactured, and programmed a tree climbing robot using pneumatic cylinders and an Arduino micro-controller.

    -

Used Solidworks CAD to design the robot
Manufactured the body and assembled it with my team
Used an Arduino microcontroller for the activation of pneumatic cylinders

  • Team project: Designed, Manufactured, and programmed an automated pizza maker using Programmable Logic Controller (PLC)

    -

Assembled parts of pizza maker allowing for movement in the x-y-z axis (similar to a 3D printer)
Programmed a PLC: spreading of the tomato sauce on pizza dough

  • Modeled a complex heat transfer system that includes both convection and conduction using the Finite Volume Method (FEM).

    -

  • Team project: Designed and Manufactured a walking four limbed robot using a Four-bar linkage System

    -

Designed the limbs using a smart four-bar linkage system
Manufactured the body of the robot using wooden plates, rods, and bearings
