    The mission of Sprout’s Distributed Team Affinity Group is to help members of #TeamSprout feel included in our culture and conversation, as well as have the right resources to be productive and engaged, regardless of where they work.

    I'm a fully-remote employee navigating the communication and interpersonal challenges that come with not being physically present in a mostly in-office company. This project began as a response to our remote inclusivity survey, which indicated there was much work to be done if remote team members were to feel fully-included at a company who has "Champion Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion" as one of its core values.

    As a member of this affinity group, I've had the privilege of working directly with executives on our internal comms and people teams. To date, we've tackled the following:

    - Redefined the terms "remote" and "distributed" to be fully inclusive
    - Built a set of inclusive communication norms that apply to all types of communication, not just remote-friendly meetings
    - Created training guidelines for managers who are remote and/or who have team members who are remote
    - Liaised with our operations teams to help promote events and surveys that are remote-inclusive
    - Rebuilt our remote working best practices guidelines when the COVID-19 pandemic forced everyone to work from home

    - Ways to create more revenue opportunities and deliver a stronger customer experience
    - Ways to improve process and inter-organizational relationships
    - Ways to grow professionally at your current role and in the broader organization

    Many of our recommendations were considered. Some were implemented immediately. Others spawned bigger conversations across the organization. In short, we made an impact. This was an incredibly rewarding experience and I am so thankful for the opportunity to participate.
