After iterating system CAD designs with ANSYS and COMSOL structural and thermal analysis tools, Kevin tallied over 200 hours of…
As a joint partnership between the University of Colorado at Boulder and Lockheed Martin Space Systems, Kevin worked on a five person team designing, optimizing, manufacturing, and testing a CubeSat Deployment System capable of the extreme vibrational, thermal, and operational requirements of NASA’s next-generation deep-space rocket and the 2020’s Orion Mars missions. After iterating system CAD designs with ANSYS and COMSOL structural and thermal analysis tools, Kevin tallied over 200 hours of CNC machining and tolerance stack up mitigation, while simultaneously facilitating all client, sponsor, and stakeholder communications. After successfully completing functional and vibrational testing (up to 30 Grms) at the Lockheed Martin facility, the team was awarded 1st Place at the 2016 Design Expo by the Design Center Colorado and industry judges.
