About The Job
Dudek is currently seeking an As-Needed Environmental Compliance Analyst to join our environmental compliance team. This position will work collaboratively with other internal Dudek teams, specifically our biological resources team, to provide comprehensive environmental compliance services to public and private-sector clients. The general focus of this position will be to function as an analyst, prepare and review environmental compliance documentation, assist with field staffing requirements, conduct biological field work and routine construction monitoring, and engage directly with clients to ensure proper scheduling coverage as well as relay necessary information to compliance managers and other field staff to ensure project adherence to regulatory permit requirements. This position has the opportunity to work on an extensive portfolio of projects in California, as well as other regions of Pacific West and beyond. This position is a variable hour position and will be based in a combination of virtual, office based, or in-field.

Duties and Responsibilities (may include some or all of the below):
We are seeking a dynamic and self-motivated individual with the desire to advance their career in the environmental consulting industry. This position may involve the following:

  • Work with several Dudek resource leads and environmental compliance managers to meet compliance monitoring regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee the preparation of compliance deliverables that include daily monitoring forms, survey forms, and biological reports.
  • Facilitate and/or conduct on-site construction monitoring of natural resources.
  • Conduct biological field work and data collection as needed.
  • Preparation and review documents requiring regulatory agency submittal, including but not limited to pre-construction surveys, species- and resource-specific plans, monthly impact reports, and regulatory permitting packages.
  • Engagement and coordination with multiple stakeholders including permittees, technical specialists, and construction management personnel.
  • Develop and implement schedules for scoped project work.
  • Assist in the preparation of proposals and scope of work for contract amendments.
  • Communicate regularly with clients and internal peers.

Minimum Requirements
  • 2+ years’ professional experience with environmental consulting, natural resource planning and conservation or related field.

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and have active personal automobile liability insurance by first day of employment.
* As a federal contractor, successful candidates are required to pass the following pre-employment requirements prior to beginning employment: pre - employment drug test and background check.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work efficiently and independently are essential.
  • Ability to conduct field work in challenging terrain and/or during inclement weather.
  • Natural resources, especially aquatic and biological resource, construction monitoring experience.
  • Knowledge and applied experience pertaining to federal and state regulatory settings pertaining to the management of biological and cultural resources during phases of projects.
  • Experience with natural resources impact analyses and mitigation identification/ planning.
  • Experience with reporting on natural resources in California and possess professional skills associated with compiling and submitting compliance and technical biological reports to resource agencies and other regulatory stakeholders.
Physical Requirements
Working Conditions:
  • This job operates in an outdoor or office-based environment and this role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers, etc.
  • This job requires project site visits which are based outdoors which can include excessive noise, uneven walking surfaces, extreme weather, moving vehicles and equipment.

  • This job may require working on a computer, sitting or standing for long periods of time in an office or remote office setting.
  • This job requires attending meetings, both in person and virtually as well as speaking on the phone with government agency representatives, members of the public, and others. Speaking, hearing and listening are required.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Outdoor activity may involve walking/trekking in uneven terrain over long distances in extreme weather conditions for extended periods of time.

Proposed Salary Range: $29.00 - $36.00 hourly*
*Final agreed upon compensation will be based on a variety of factors including but not limited to an individual’s related experience, education, certifications, skills, and work location.
