Responsibilities
Works collaboratively with the Director of Grants & Contracts to support pre-and post-award grant activities
Supervise a team of grants accountants, providing coaching, mentoring, training, and guidance on claims process and requirements
Reviews and verifies accurate billing and revenue are entered in both the billing and accounting systems
Provides financial oversight for funds related to grant projects.
Follows up with funders on outstanding invoices to ensure timely reimbursement on claims
Ensures cash optimization and accounts receivable reduction activity is functioning to the fullest capacity
Assists to ensure schedules are completed for monthly and quarterly billing and revenue reconciliations
Assists with Agency audit and prepare audit documentation and requirement for individual funder audit
Coordinates meetings with program leadership to discuss status of budgets vs actual and action planning
Acts as a liaison with internal and external business partners and departments; effective at driving change and managing cross functional relationships to achieve desired results
Works with funders to troubleshoot and solve issues with reimbursement claims and disallowances
Assumes all financial responsibilities of the staff in their absence or when there are challenges in meeting deadlines
Train program staff on the proper coding of expenditures
Provide monthly updates to cash flow analysis for contracts being managed
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Master’s degree – at least 6 years related experience in nonprofit accounting
Bachelor’s degree – at least 7 years related experience in nonprofit accounting
Demonstrated knowledge of financial planning and analysis
Strong oral and written communication, time management and organizational skills
Ability to work within time constraints, manage multiple tasks at the same time and meet deadlines
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and other standard business technology is required
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
Knowledge of Accounting Software Intacct/Nexonia is a plus
