CalWest's client school, Cow Hollow School, is seeking an Assistant Head of School to begin July 31, 2024.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Educational Leadership, or a related field.
  • Previous experience working in a leadership role in a school or early childhood education setting.
  • Strong knowledge of early childhood development, curriculum design, and educational best practices.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including staff, parents, and community members.
  • Familiarity with state licensing regulations and accreditation standards for school programs.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership and Administration:

  • Collaborate with the Head of School in evolving and implementing the school's vision, mission, and goals.
  • Assist in the day-to-day management of the school, including scheduling and payroll, benefits administration, and developing or maintaining policies and procedures to ensure the safety and well-being of students and staff.
  • Oversee budgeting, financial planning, and resource allocation to ensure fiscal sustainability. Monitor financial performance and make recommendations for improvements as needed.
  • Provide regular updates and reports to the Board of Directors, including financial analyses and recommendations to support strategic planning and decision-making.

Staff Management and Professional Development:

  • Assist in recruiting, hiring, and training qualified school teachers and staff.
  • Oversee the creation, negotiation, and administration of employment contracts for faculty, staff, and administrative personnel within the school. Manage the process of contract renewals and extensions for existing employees through to terminations.
  • Provide regular feedback and support to staff members, conducting performance evaluations and facilitating professional development opportunities.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement among staff members.

Parent and Community Engagement:

  • Communicate regularly with parents, keeping them informed about their child's progress, upcoming events, and school policies.
  • Act as a liaison between the school and the community, building positive relationships with families, local organizations, and other stakeholders.
  • Organize and participate in school events, such as parent-teacher conferences, open houses, and community outreach programs.
  • Manage the process of receiving, recording, and acknowledging incoming donations from individuals, corporations, foundations, and other sources, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and donor restrictions.

Program Evaluation and Quality Assurance:

  • Work with the Head of School to assess the effectiveness of the school program, using data and feedback to make informed decisions.
  • Implement quality assurance measures to ensure that the program meets or exceeds state licensing requirements and accreditation standards.
  • Participate in ongoing self-assessment and strategic planning to identify areas for improvement and innovation.
  • Collaborate with the Board of Directors to develop and implement strategies for setting tuition rates and fees in alignment with the school’s financial goals, budgetary constraints, and market trends.
