Who We Are

Reed Food Technology/Tastemaker Foods is a family-owned food manufacturing company with two locations in central and north Mississippi. Our sauce plant called Reed Food Technology in Pearl MS, produces a wide range of food sauces, including some of the best-known names in the world of competitive BBQ. Our dry-blending facility called Tastemaker Foods in Hernando MS, produces batters and coating systems for fried meat, baking mixes, and dry seasoning blends. We offer the familiarity and warmth of a family owned operation, with the capabilities of a world-class food manufacturer.

What We Are Looking For

The ideal candidate will be a quick learner with strong problem-solving skills and work ethic. Our QA department is one of the most demanding, fast-paced areas of our operation. We need a team-member who can come up to speed quickly and keep up with the demands of the department. The Assistant Quality Manager will provide direct support to QA leadership by directing key food safety systems and quality programs.

Essential Job Functions

·       Maintain quality programs, including SOPs, HACCP/HARPC, GMPs, pest control, allergen control, and other programs.

·       Evaluate and approve incoming raw materials based on established specifications.

·       Analyze collected data to improve product quality performance.

·       Maintain analytical records and report out-of-specification results to the QA Manager.

·       Recommend and facilitate implementation of corrective actions necessary to ensure conformity with quality and

food safety specifications and standards.

·       Coordinate with operations personnel to resolve food safety and quality problems; ensure compliance with all

food safety standards.

·       Utilize data to identify root cause of quality related complaints

·       Find solutions to reduce the occurrence of quality variance.

·       Lead all food safety/quality audits, SQF audits, and customer audits.

·       Assist the QA and management teams with others needs that may arise.

·       Assume leadership of the QA department in the absence of the Quality Manager.

·       Work directly with senior management to fulfill additional requests as needed.

·       Problem-Solving Abilities: The role may involve troubleshooting and resolving quality issues, so strong

problem-solving skills will be invaluable.

·       Team Player: Collaboration is key in our environment, so someone who can work well within a team and

contribute positively to our group dynamic would be ideal.

·       Physical Abilities: Ability to stand for long periods, walk through a wet, hot and/or cold environments in a

manufacturing plant, and lift 30 lbs.

Education

·       Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, or a closely related, science-based field

·       A Master’s in such fields is preferred.

·       Familiarity with manufacturing quality programs (GFSI/SQF, HAACP/HARPC, PCQI, and GMP’s).

Location and Schedule

·       Our Assistant Quality Manager position is an onsite job, but some travel may occasionally be required.

·       Work is Monday through Friday, with some weekend work as needed.

Compensation

·       $65K and up, depending on experience
