About The Job Opportunity

As a key member of our Senior Leadership team, the Controller at CAC (Center for Action and Contemplation) is responsible for directing all accounting and finance functions for the organization. With extensive expertise in your field, you will be responsible for delivering accurate and timely financial reporting and analysis for both internal and external customers in adherence to non-profit accounting principles and standards.

In this role, you will also be responsible for overseeing and managing our Accounting team. As a supportive leader, you will empower team members to meet the expectations of their role while fostering a culture aligned with CAC's values. As a leader of a smaller team, you'll also be a contributing member - reviewing journal entries, troubleshooting data, and supporting other hands-on projects as needed.

This role reports into our CFO and demands attention to detail, strong leadership, and dedication to fostering a culture rooted in our mission and values. We are open to remote candidates located in the United States.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead and develop a high-performing finance team, aligning with CAC's cultural and professional goals, while overseeing team plans, budgets, and performance metrics
  • Direct comprehensive financial planning and analysis, including annual budgets, forecasts, and strategic five-year financial projections, in partnership with the Director of Business Analytics
  • Oversee all accounting functions, including monthly close process, cash flow management, and maintenance of financial integrity in compliance with non-profit accounting principles
  • Manage financial reporting and analysis, developing dashboards and providing actionable insights to senior leadership for informed decision-making
  • Directs organizational compliance through management of audits, tax returns, contract reviews, and implementation of internal control policies and procedures
  • Oversee accounting systems and workflows, supporting new software implementation in collaboration with the technology team
  • Support cross-functional initiatives, including HR operational activities, organizational training, and attendance at Finance Committee and Board meetings as required
  • Foster positive partnerships with executive leadership, cross-functional teams, external accounting support to achieve organizational goals
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge through educational opportunities, professional publications, and participation in professional organizations

Salary & Benefits

At CAC, we are pleased to offer a salary range of $102,000-$127,500 (based on experience) for this position. CAC salaries are one part of a generous total rewards package that also includes industry-leading flexibility, benefits, and paid leave. Salaries are established based on a grade system designed to ensure competitiveness with industry standards as well as pay equity. Final salary will be determined based on the specific qualifications of the candidate in relation to the salary grade and predetermined criteria.
