Director of Payroll
Director of Payroll - Roslindale, MA - Full Time - On site to start We are seeking a Payroll Director to join our team in Roslindale, Massachusetts. The primary function of this role is to oversee all payroll functions, assist with the implementation of Workday HCM, manage daily payroll activities, and ensure staff proficiency and development. This role also involves managing third-party vendors, handling payroll-related projects, and ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state, and wage and hour laws.

Salary: $120 - $160k
Schedule: In office to start – after Workday implementation the role will go Hybrid (2/ 3 days in office)
Responsibilities:
• Administer and manage all payroll functions, ensuring effective disposition of daily payroll activities.
• Liaise with third-party vendors for the preparation, analysis, and maintenance of all payroll-related reports, including governmental and regulatory filings, and payroll and benefit reconciliations.
• Lead key payroll-related projects and act as the payroll expert for larger cross-functional initiatives impacting payroll, including new payroll system implementations.
• Maintain the payroll interfaces and payroll-related general ledger entries for the company’s month-end close and related reconciliations.
• Research new payroll tax legislations, identify the reporting requirements, options, and applicable risks.
• Develop and enforce payroll policies and procedures to ensure proper internal controls and efficient processes.
• Provide leadership and guidance to the teams regarding resolution support associated with payroll, payroll tax, and benefit issues and procedures.
• Analyze complex transactions, identify issues, and work with internal and external operational teams to identify causes, assess risks, and implement plans to eliminate future occurrence.
• Ensure the confidentiality and security of payroll data, adhering to data privacy regulations and safeguarding sensitive employee information.

Required Qualifications:
- 5 to 8 years of related experience in payroll management
- 10+ years of related experience in payroll processes
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, or other related field
- CPP Certified payroll Professional, designation Strongly preferred
- Extensive experience in Oracle HCM and/or payroll systems, preferably ADP, UKG and or Workday
- Experience with multiple legal entity payrolls
- Strong ability to analyze data and recommend changes based on findings relevant to business operations.
- Proven history of successful leadership.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with internal teams, external partners, and senior management.
- Project lead experience and prior experience with HCM implementations
- Strong MS Excel and database experience
