Averill Hospitality is seeking a Director of Sales & Catering for their Whitefish, MT properties, The Lodge at Whitefish Lake and The Firebrand Hotel.
The Director of Sales & Catering supports Averill Hospitality’s Whitefish properties by managing, coordinating, and executing items related to day-to-day sales operations and strategic planning, provides oversight and leadership to sales team members, and manages a sales territory.
Specific tasks include:

Averill Hospitality is seeking a Director of Sales & Catering for their Whitefish, MT properties, The Lodge at Whitefish Lake and The Firebrand Hotel.
The Director of Sales & Catering supports Averill Hospitality’s Whitefish properties by managing, coordinating, and executing items related to day-to-day sales operations and strategic planning, provides oversight and leadership to sales team members, and manages a sales territory.
Specific tasks include:
- Manage team building and recognition, troubleshooting, training, mentoring, and related tasks to develop a strong sales team.
- Create and follow annual sales plan for territory managed and assist sales managers in developing their annual plans, adapting and modifying them to ensure successful new business development and retention.
- Communicate with other departments to facilitate services agreed upon with clients and act as a resource for information and assistance to other departments within the company.
- Lead the evaluation, selection, and onboarding of new team members in the department.
- Provide revenue projections for group sales and participate in the annual budget process.
- Achieve department sales goals as established by the Director of Sales & Marketing and General Managers
- Work with the individual property General Managers to ensure group sales efforts are aligned with overall property goals and modify as needed.

- Excellent verbal communication skills both in-person and on the telephone, and excellent written communication skills with attention to proper spelling, grammar, and usage
- Experience and proven ability to drive the sales process from start to finish and to cultivate these skills in others.
- Strong listening, negotiation, and presentation skills
- Understanding of how to position products against competitors, and knowledge of how to develop client-focused, differentiated, and achievable solutions.
- Strong computer skills and knowledge with the capacity to learn new programs and technologies.
- Proven ability to mentor others, train on processes, and create a culture of accountability.
- Must possess a high regard for customer service and employee relations and the ability to deal with the public and staff tactfully and diplomatically
- Ability to interpret data, identify trends, and create strategic plans based on findings.
- A broad understanding of the tourism industry and the day-to-day operations of a hotel/resort
- Possess an attitude that encourages an open, stimulating, and trusting environment that reflects our Company Mission and Core Personality Traits.
- Strong sales experience in the hotel industry required.
