Position Overview: We are seeking a strategic and experienced Director of Tax to lead our tax department. The Director of Tax will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of tax planning, compliance, and strategy for the organization. This role requires deep expertise in tax law, strong leadership skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively across departments to optimize tax strategies and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. This role reports to the CFO, with a dotted line to the Group Tax Director (based in London).

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement tax strategies to minimize the company's tax liabilities while ensuring compliance with local, state, federal, and international tax laws.
  • Be in charge of the preparation and review of components of the annual and quarterly federal and state income tax provisions,
  • Identify and streamline procedures and worksheets for preparation of the US Regions tax accounting and planning.
  • Align documentation with US and relevant international tax laws & records to reduce risk and liabilities penalties.
  • Oversee the preparation and filing of accurate and timely tax returns, including corporate income tax, sales tax, property tax, and other regulatory filings.
  • Manage tax audits and inquiries from tax authorities, ensuring all responses are thorough and compliant.
  • Monitor changes in tax legislation and regulations and assess their impact on the company's tax strategy and financial reporting.
  • Provide strategic tax advice and guidance to senior management, Group Tax Director, and other departments on business transactions, investments, and strategic initiatives.
  • Collaborate with external auditors, advisors, and legal counsel on tax matters and financial reporting.
  • Lead and develop a team of tax professionals, providing mentorship, training, and performance management.
  • Implement and maintain tax accounting policies and procedures to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with GAAP and IFRS.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or related field; CPA or MST (Master of Science in Taxation) preferred.
  • 10+ yearsof tax experience with Big 4 firm and/or Fortune 500 companies.
  • In-depth knowledge of tax laws, regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing complex tax issues, audits, and negotiations with tax authorities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret and apply tax laws to business operations.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively present complex tax issues to senior management and external stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and execute tax strategies aligned with corporate objectives.
  • Experience with tax planning for mergers, acquisitions, and international operations is a plus.
  • Experience with US corporate taxation preferred.
  • A strong working knowledge of international tax regulations (such as BEPS, Transfer pricing) is desirable.
  • Experience with IAS 12 is preferred.
  • Strong experience in Indirect Taxation.
  • Deep experience in the tax controversy area and knowledge of government audit process.
  • Knowledge in the area of tax credits and incentives.
  • Ability to multitask and manage a team of tax professionals.
