NV5’s Ventura office provides construction inspection and materials testing services on construction projects. Services entail inspection and testing of construction activities including soils compaction, asphalt paving, concrete, masonry, welding, bolting, fireproofing, and other services. The position will assist in dispatch of field services and coordination of laboratory data. The dispatcher will receive daily service requests from project owners and contractors, schedule appropriately qualified staff to fill each request, gather and forward project information to field staff for each field assignment. The daily routine typically involves: a) receiving requests throughout the day, b) finalizing staff assignments in the mid-afternoon, and c) transmitting project information to field staff at the end of the day. Lab coordination includes receiving and entering lab data into our Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) for Engineer review. The job requires excellent communication and organizational skills. Work will entail close daily communication with NV5’s project managers and constant communication with our clients.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively assist in taking daily inspection/testing service request information, by all forms of communication. This includes following up with additional information requests, if necessary.
  • Coordinate and schedule construction inspections efficiently based on project needs, matching qualified inspectors to projects according to their expertise and workload, and communicate inspection schedules to relevant parties to minimize delays, allowing input from Project Managers.
  • Collaborate with teams to ensure inspections are completed as scheduled and correctly reflected in our Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) database.
  • Maintain fair distribution of inspection assignments among inspectors.
  • Communicate with team as a liaison between inspectors, contractors, lab team and project managers.
  • Resolve scheduling conflicts and resource issues promptly through active communication with all team members.
  • Review daily laboratory testing and reporting schedule with internal team members.
  • Assist in maintaining inventory of equipment, tools, and materials.
  • Help coordinate repair and maintenance of lab equipment utilizing internal resources.
  • Assist in daily report entry of the lab testing results .
  • Perform other tasks as time allows.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as dispatcher or similar relevant experience;
  • Detail oriented, good time management
  • Understanding of construction terminology
  • Tech-savvy with knowledge Excel and data entry
  • Good typing skills
  • Proficient in English (oral and written)
  • Outstanding organizational and multitasking abilities
  • Active listener with excellent communication skills
  • Sound judgement and critical thinking
  • High school diploma

The pay range for this California position is $24 - $35 per hour; however, base pay offered may be higher or lower depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience of the candidate. Restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
