Overview
We are dedicated to fostering equitable education policies and practices through robust research and evaluation. We are seeking enthusiastic individuals to join us as temporary, part-time research assistants. In this role, you will have the rewarding opportunity to conduct assessments and observations with preschool and kindergarten children, contributing to impactful decisions that benefit educators, students, and families.
Responsibilities
Attend comprehensive training sessions in July and August to prepare for data collection duties.
Conduct direct assessments and observations of children during fall and spring data collection periods.
Collaborate closely with our project manager and educators to schedule data collection activities.
Ensure accurate data entry into our web-based database.
Conduct assessments 1:1 with students outside the classroom, requiring travel to school sites.
Position Requirements
Possess some undergraduate coursework in psychology, education, social work, or early childhood.
Demonstrate strong organizational and interpersonal communication skills.
Showcase prior experience working with children, whether as a teacher, assistant teacher, or through assessment and afterschool programs.
Have access to reliable transportation and a computer/digital device with internet connectivity.
Exhibit a willingness to complete all necessary security measures and training mandated by the study.
Be available in the morning and early afternoon (8 am-2 pm) at least three days a week, Monday through Friday.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience in research.
Proficiency or fluency in Spanish.
Duration And Compensation
This is a temporary position for the 2024-2025 school year, estimated to require approximately 18-24 hours per week during data collection periods. The compensation for this role is $25 per hour.
