Electrical Systems Engineer

Position Summary:

This position will be responsible for the design and development of new electric forklift systems and components. It requires a goal-driven and detail-oriented individual with excellent communication skills and technical knowledge. The ideal candidate will be an energetic and adaptive person that contributes strong technical expertise to a fast-paced engineering team.


Responsibilities / Duties:

  • Interpret product requirements to develop functional specifications and system requirements
  • Conduct feasibility studies on new features and technology
  • Select motor drivers, controllers, sensors, and/or other electrical components that meet system requirements
  • Author specifications documentation to component suppliers
  • Create and update documentation including design detail, DFMEA, DVP&R, test plans, test/calibration procedures, product manuals and other technical documents
  • Calibrate system functions and performance using prototype vehicles
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware and software components of controllers and other electronic devices related to OEM forklifts
  • Maintain and execute detailed schedules that support overall project schedules
  • Design, develop, and simulate electrical, mechanical and hydraulic systems using model-based design tools (e.g., Simulink,AmeSim).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate electrical systems with mechanical and software components.
  • Analyze and optimize system performance using simulation and testing data
  • Develop and implement control algorithms for electrical systems
  • Create and maintain technical documentation and design reports
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies in electrical system design
  • Effectively communicate development status to management
  • Manage aspects of vehicle bill of material(BOM) and report system/component costs
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure manufacturability, cost, quality and delivery of new products


Required Education & Experience:

Bachelors or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field

  • 5 years of experience in electrical system design, simulation, and analysis
  • Strong expertise in model-based design tools and methodologies
  • Experience in automotive or material handling industries
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as MATLAB,/Simulink, Python and C
